The records section of FIUPD ensures the proper management and storage of public records as defined in 119.011(11), Florida Statutes.  Records management seeks to manage records during their life cycle, from the conception through active use, inactive storage, and final disposition.

The Records staff of FIUPD is available from Monday to Friday at 8:00am until 5:00pm, except when that time falls on a university observed holiday or emergency closing.  When requesting a police report, please keep the following facts in mind:

  • When a report in under investigation, the department will not release it unless ordered by the courts.
  • If requesting an accident report within the first 60 days of the incident, the requestor has to be stated on the report (either being involved in the accident or being the insurance agency of the person involved).  After the 60 day period, anyone is able to obtain a copy of the accident report.

Please have the ‘Records Request Form’ completed before you visit the station to request a police report.  The completion of this form will assist in the process of obtaining your requested police report in a timely manner.
